Bo Song, a Chinese man, was diagnosed with a serious illness two years ago and began to suffer from depression. Believing he will never have a family of his own, he decided to buy himself ‘a daughter’. He made the purchase from a website that sells human sized dolls and named it Xiao Die (little butterfly). For other people it is just a doll that looks very much like a girl, but Bo Song treats it like a real person. He buys the doll clothes, takes it out to restaurants and talks to it. The man lives with his mother, but the woman says she has nothing against the doll that cost 2,200 dollars.
