“I grew up surrounded by animals,” the man told *The Dodo*. “My parents loved them, and they usually let me have any pet I wanted—as long as I took responsibility for caring for it.”

Now, he’s using social media to inspire others to see the joy of adopting senior animals. Steve Greig, a 52-year-old animal lover, has made it his mission to give older pets a second chance. From his home in downtown Denver, he has adopted at least 10 senior dogs, along with four chickens, two ducks, a rabbit, and even a pig.

To show just how rewarding life with older animals can be, Steve created an Instagram account where he regularly shares touching photos of himself and his unique family of furry and feathered companions.

“At a certain point in life, you know what you want,” he says. “Senior dogs are the same—they know who they are, which makes it easy to build a bond. It’s incredibly fulfilling to see these sweet animals happy, loved, and well cared for. It gives my life real meaning.”

His “gang” has attracted a huge following online, with nearly a million fans on Instagram. If you’re curious about what life is like with 10 senior dogs, four chickens, two ducks, a rabbit, and a pig, his page offers a heartwarming glimpse.
