“It all unfolded in an instant, yet it was deeply moving.”
On a gray, rain-soaked day, Mayane Rodrigues witnessed a touching moment just outside her apartment window in Brazil.
Looking down at the street below, she noticed a young girl pausing on the slick sidewalk as she walked home from school. The girl set aside her umbrella, slipped off her backpack, and removed her jacket.

That’s when Rodrigues spotted a drenched stray puppy at the girl’s feet — and realized who the girl’s actions were for.
Curious, she kept watching.
The girl gently scooped the puppy into her arms and carried it away, like a small guardian angel in the rain.
“It all unfolded so quickly. It was incredibly emotional,” Rodrigues told The Dodo. “I shared the video with a friend, who posted it in a neighborhood group. That’s how I found out who the ‘angel’ was.”
Her name is Cibely Stiegelmair. She’s 13 years old — and that day, she saved a life.
When Cibely arrived home, her mother, Rejane Stiegelmair, was alarmed.
“I was shocked when she came in with the puppy. She was soaked and sweating from the rain,” Rejane said. “There was blood on her shirt. I thought she was hurt, but she explained that the puppy was injured when she found it.”
Thankfully, the puppy’s injuries weren’t severe — just the kind that time, care, and compassion could heal.
Seeing the helpless animal alone on the street, Cibely knew she couldn’t just walk away.
“Cibely has such a kind heart. She feels deep compassion for stray dogs,” her mother said. “If she could, she’d bring every single one home.”

The puppy, now named Pretinha, was welcomed into the family with love.
No one knows exactly how Pretinha ended up stranded on that rainy sidewalk. But one thing is certain — thanks to Cibely, her future is now filled with hope.
“As parents, we’ve always been proud of Cibely,” her mom said. “But now, even more so.”
