Homeless people are often marginalized by society. Many people consider them to be lazy or addicts, but most often end up on the streets because they have had no other options. What if someone in your family ended up on the streets? After 10 years of photographing homeless people, Diana Kim discovered her own father to be one of them. The woman who grew up on the island of Maui had lost touch with her father after her parents got divorced and she moved out. In 2003, Kim started a photography project about the homeless, but never imagined her work would lead her back to her father.
