A video showing an odd-looking creature chewing its way out of a steel cage is attracting a lot of Internet attention these days. The clip was uploaded on YouTube by a user in China called Raymond Yeung. He says the “mysterious” creature was swimming in the Shenzhen Reservoir when some workers found it and put it in the cage. The video quickly sparked controversy on Chinese social media site WeiBo. Some believe the clawed animal is a “water monster” from Chinese folklore, while more down-to-earth users think it’s probably a sick sun bear that was affected by pollution.
